Erik Swenson had more than forty years of legal and policy experience prior to establishing his consultancy at Enegis. He currently serves as an advisor to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office, on matters relating to administrative/regulatory law, policy direction, and project management.
Prior to joining Enegis, Erik served for four years as the Director, Law Firm Pro Bono Project, for the Pro Bono Institute (PBI). Before taking on a leadership role at PBI, Erik was a partner at three major international law firms. His law practice spanned more than three decades and focused on energy law, where he gained experience advising and representing private-sector clients ranging from industrial energy consumers, renewable power producers, natural gas pipeline developers, liquified natural gas terminal developers, and energy project lenders. Many of these engagements involved permitting and other regulatory proceedings before government agencies, including the Department of Energy and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Erik holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School, and a B.A. in Geology from the Columbia College.
